After several years of drawing tattoo designs for others I decided it was time to stop being the middle man.

In the fall 1988 (with the guidance and machines of Guy Aitchison ) I made my first permanent mark on a trusting friend. It was an intense and unforgettable experience. I was hooked!

By the beginning of 1989 I purchased my own equipment and started my journey. I soon quit my day job and focused all of my creative energy on the craft.

After a year of working in a private studio at home, Tony Olivas (a friend and mentor) invited me to be a part of the family and opened Sacred Heart Tattoo (Atlanta, GA.) in the spring/summer of 1990. I learned a great deal about the techniques of Black and Grey, fine line, realism from Tony as well as pursuing other styles inspired by coworkers and my eclectic interests.

By the dawn of 1997 it was time for me to make a move back to the west coast. After a brief stint in Lake Tahoe and San Francisco I finally landed in the place of my birth, Los Angeles. CA. in November of 1999.

I had the privilege and honor to work with the master of "Tribal" tattooing, Leo Zulueta at Black Wave Tattoo until he sold the shop and moved back east. In this time I learned a tremendous amount about the techniques and application of black work designs. From there I went to work with Craig Jackman at American Electric Tattoo Company in Silver Lake for the duration of my stay in Los Angeles where the clientele desired motley and varied designs always challenging my abilities and honing my skills.

I returned to San Francisco in 2006 and have been working at Sacred Rose Tattoo in the city. I am now looking forward to working with Karen in Berkeley.

I embrace many techniques and styles in my tattoo work. From bold graphic designs to delicate fine line pieces. Everything from the traditional to the unconventional.

If I had to make a choice of specialties I suppose I would go with "cover-up" and "re-work" designs. The diversity of my experience along with the ability to truly collaborate with the client makes these projects a rewarding challenge.
